No it should be fine. You're supposed to wait about 15 minutes after taking the turkey out of the oven to carve. Just take the turkey over there once its fully cooked. If when you get there you won't be eating for a while just stick the turkey back into the oven so its stays warm.

I don't know if your family likes to have a whole turkey on the table, but if you don't you can either carve it before you leave your house or carve it once you get there. Put the slices in a shallow baking pan (a foil pan is fine to use) with a little bit of water in the bottom and reheat that in the oven (covered). It won't take nearly as long as reheating the whole thing...and with the water in the pan, it will keep it moist. I used to volunteer at a soup kitchen and people would bring cooked turkeys over (some were even cold from being refrigerated overnight before hey brought them to us) and that is how we would reheat them for serving...it worked fine.

It will be fine traveling that short a distance. One thing you can do to help insure it's temperature remains steady is to cook it in a bag in your roaster, then when you are ready to go just tent the roasting pan a couple times with foil and cover your roaster with the lid.
This will insulate the turkey and give it the extra time they always recommend you give your turkey before carving. I have done this many times traveling for Thanksgiving or the holidays and I live in MN so the transporting in and out of the cold if done this way is no problem. actually be careful when opening for the steam that will escape.
Have a great Thanksgiving!

In the past I used to cook an entire Turkey dinner for my local fire department. The fellows who worked the evening shift on Thanksgiving were generally people without families - single, etc. I cooked the turkey at home (completely), covered it snugly in foil, covered everything snugly in foil (the pies, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, dressing, etc.). I put it all in the trunk (securing the gravy so it wouldn't spill), and off I went (it took longer than your 20 minute drive). Turn their oven on 200º and warm everything back up - covered in foil (except the pie, naturally). I even made the dinner rolls at home and heated them in there too. Only need to heat it for about 20 minutes. For the rolls, open their packet, sprinkle a little water with your fingers over the inside of the foil, not directly on the rolls, close the foil and heat them the last 10 minutes. Or you can put them in a paper bag, sprinkle the bag with water and heat the rolls in that for 10 minutes.

It will stay hot for a long time. Just wrap it in a couple of layers of foil.

Yeah, that way you don't have to wait so long once you get there. All you have to do is reheat.

Um. You can only 'bring' it to your mother's if you are already there. You can 'take' it to your mother's and then bring the left overs home.
