You assume prophecy has anything to do with the future. It really doesn't, not that I've ever been able to see and not that anyone else has ever been able to show. Prophecy tells us who we were when the prophecy was made, what our outlook on the world was as a society at the time. It can reveal some startling insights as well as levels of ignorance which can only be justified by a culture who could not have possibly known any better. It is a gauge of who we were, not who we are to become.

deep question deserves a deep answer
Biblical history is an indicator of prophecy and fulfillment. It is a way of proving by chronological writings that these prophecies or true. Prophecies that have not been answered yet are important to understand what will happen and not be lead astray by false prophets teachers and people who would lead you to mass suicide saying they are jesus christ. Also knowing what to expect in certained situations like when will jesus come back. (by the way nobody can tell you exactly when that is going to happen). They are important for understanding and wisdom so you will be knowledgable of current events and be able to make educated decisions I hope this helps

Faith is believing the truth. They are one of an infinite number of things that show Jesus as God and Messiah. Prophecy is also that which will surely happen. That's why it's imortant.
Those who know true prophecies can be prepared and make wise decisions from Jesus.
The Bible's prophecies are all 100% accurate.

Prophecy is important because it provides a direct link to God's word, providing truth, clarity and discernment in a time of turmoil, need and crisis. Prophecy helps bring the love of God, words of knowledge and wisdom to people who are suffering so they can continue on in faith, hope and trust in God.
It really has little to do with the future in most cases but more assurance, affirmation and confirmation of one's course of action and if it is truly aligned with God's will in your life.

it's importance is in the fact that it exsists.
Question answered.
However its importance to you or me is dependent upon how God wills it to be used. You are right in that leading a life of faith is certainly enough from day to day. To take on the study of the future is OK so long as it does not detract in any way from "the path set before us" Unfortunately it often does.
peace be with you -

The fulfillment of prophecies should strengthen our faith in the fulfillment of Gods purpose, which is also a prophecy.

We're given prophecy as a warning, it's ignorant to ignore warnings.

Because religion is a joke. I believe in some sort of God or higher being, and being kind to your fellow man and all that, but religion always seems to get in the way of the very things it purports to be promoting. I'm spiritual, just not religious; there is a difference. But most religious prophecies are bad *** though, they always involve crazy **** going down. I highly respect people who are strong in their faith, I just think religion is a joke.

Prophecy is important to build up the church. To prophesy does not only mean foretell, but also, and the most important meaning in the Bible, to speak for and speak forth God. That is why in 1 Corinthians 14::1 Pursue love, and desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. 2 For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God; for no one hears, but in his spirit he speaks mysteries. 3 But he who prophesies speaks building up and encouragement and consolation to men. 4 He who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but he who prophesies builds up the church.
So, pay attention to the building up of the church.
