People, non-believers and Believers alike, speak of how churches/pastors are horrible for asking money and see it as a bad thing.
First off, I don't feel a person needs to go to church every week or at all in order to be a good Christian. Some people go and are not really Christians. Whether or not a person goes is between that person and God.
Second off ,if a person does choose to go (or called to go), there is a scripture somehwere in the New Testament about giving 10 percent of income (weekly income) for tithe. Second, church ask for money to help the less fortunate because helping the less fortunate is what we are comanded to do. It's one thing if a person is truly too poor to give money to the church, some people truly cannot. But for those who can ( who GOD feels has enough money to give to the church), why do many people have a problem with it? I know that some just aren't into sacrificing.

Hogie, I know there are other ways to give to the poor! I am just simply wanted to know why some people don't like to give money to the church! Lately on here I read people talking about not wanting to go to church because of pastors asking for money! Go in peace, and God bless you!

It is more about the mis use of the money... there should be an open accounting of all funds received and paid out... if there is not... then do not give to that group.... it is a truth of this world that money is required to keep things running... even giving food to the poor requires money...

You said:

You are mistaken. There is no requirement in the New Testament to tithe on wages. This would have been seen as both a case of requiring an old covenant point of law like circumcision, which Paul said if one felt they had to do so they were obligated to keep all the law, and fall from grace as a result, and would also be a perversion of the law in this regard, seeing as tithes were assessed on the increase of produce and livestock, and never wages.

People are free to give to the poor without filtering their money through a church.

You conclude with an accusation; not a very Christian thing to do.

Pastors ask for money to keep the Church's going up and to stand in good will for people to go to pray and read the bible. As you know nothing is free now a days. People who give money to the Church's is doing it in good faith. Now a days the money of tax payers that's going to the prisons and wars and others bad use is not really going to the church like it suppose to be. May be 35% do goes to the Church's. It's up to the people to keep the faith alive and the Church's going. And to those people who can't give to the church.God loves them the same.

I am an Atheist and I make several donations a year to charities I like. None have or ever will include a television evangelist. They are Sharks who take advantage of the weak minded believers who only want to do something good. I think their conduct is criminal and they should be punished accordingly.

Oh grow up. Churchs do not ask for money to help the less fortunate, they ask for money to keep the church going and to pay their staff (including the minister/priest). A very small portion of that money is going to help others. Just exactly how do you think they pay the heating and air conditioning bills and your religious leaders get to wear clothing, hmm?

Okay. So would you call spending the tithes on a multi billion dollar mall a just, good cause?

(This is what the mormons have done!)
