liquid in the lungs. Take care of yourself and stay rested. It can become a big, dangerous problem.

In a healthy person, the bacteria and fungi that cause pneumonia are always present, and viruses capable of causing pneumonia are sometimes present, at levels too low to cause infection. Pneumonia develops quickly when you don't completely expel the air from your lungs. I agree with Ellen. You have to really be careful when broken ribs cause pneumonia - it can spiral out of control pretty quickly if you don't aggressively treat the pneumonia.

The pain from the broken ribs is probably causing you to take shallow breaths. You need to ask your doctor to send you to an inhalation therapist to help you to breathe correctly, even though you are in pain. I have broken ribs myself and can appreciate how badly they hurt.
