I've heard it through soft whispers,
on those long forgotten nights,
through the sobs and wimpers,
that the body is full of light.

Well, I think of books really as voices of people who are sharing what they have experienced, and like a guru or sage, these people can truly add to my spiritual growth. At the same time, I see the danger in becoming somewhat addicted to these books when I would be better for me to sit and reflect, tapping into that eternal river of knowledge and wisdom that flows through me.

Books recommend that "Contentment" is the greatest virtue!
Contented, I am; but the "Thirst" lingers on....
"Sacred Knowledge" seems to be as elusive as a Mirage in the desert of life; but I move on fuelled by my thirst. I ride upon the Camel of my thoughts where, Books are my refuge amidst the desert storm.
Come what may, I still move on...and on and on....

Books are written by men and women, all of whom have only partial knowledge of reality and truth. As such, none completely satisfy. God writes in the book of Nature, Her truths written in our very DNA. You want sacred knowledge, you'll not find it in ANY book but the book of Nature. The wisdom is already yours, most just don't know it.

Enough problems have occurred because of their interpretations of whats in the "books". If most people can't handle the Holy things written in the Scriptures, how in God's name can they handle Sacred Knowledge.

~~~ cosmic,,, Your Q reminds me of those who do not own a TV because of their claim of it being "A Vast Wasteland". They simply don't use it with discretion as there is much valid info there these days. My point to you is that there is plenty of "sacred knowledge" (esoterica) found in books and these books are more available to more people than at any time in history. If you can't find what you are looking for you CAN find how to get to the Info from there. ~~ Namaste`
All knowledge is tested through the touch stone of your reason. To me, reason is not anathema to sacred knowledge, for reason itself is a god-given faculty, which cannot be easily brushed aside. However, reason alone cannot the sole source of wisdom. Your intuition should also be consulted, often, whenever you are in doubt and dilemma.
Unquenchably thirsting for more...forever. Books entertain and prompt, they expand the mind. Ideas feed the possibilities but nothing slakes my thirst like 'more' from the eternal spring of 'holy' water.
Always with this "sacred"? There came one tiny flake of snow as stood watching today. It plunged then dance, then plunged again, and ended on my hand. Did I feel it, or was it so small as to be lost amongst the clumsy nerves of my hand? Did I just imagine that I felt it? What is sacred?
