I've never heard of rompope. I like eggnog but not store bought, it has to be homemade.

Well eggnog is very rich and it is made with raw eggs . People should be afraid to eat raw eggs these days. So all commercial eggnog is pasturised and as a result looses flavor texture.
The best eggnog recipies are in Ruth Berolzheimers American Woman's Cookbook, circa 1959. I like > southern eggnog . There are several types of eggnog .
It has beaten cream and beaten eggs in it . Its very thick so that a spoon can almost stand up in it. You can make eggnog yourself any time of the year.
It's fairly easy actually .
Helen Corbitt also had a tastey recipie made with ice cream. She also has an excellent one for roquefort dressing . Make sure your eggs are very fresh . Wash them in the shell very well and keep this very cold and drink it right away . Don't leave it out of refrigeration.
The southern eggnog which is made from whipped cream and whipped egg whites will split if you add alchohol. I think it would make you sick if you doused it with alchohol.
It's best as a dessert served in a cup.

Yes, I love eggnog ( especially with Capt Morgan in it!) They do sell it year round. Bordens makes a good eggnog in a can and our grocery stores carry it year round. But the kind you buy in the dairy case around the holidays is still the best!!

I like eggnog only if it's spiked w/ whisky.
I think if they sell it year-round, it would be nothing special.
