This being in Denver... I see a few billboards for churches, and lots of billboards for hard liquor.

You know, I've never seen a liquor billboard. Maybe they're illegal in my state. Or maybe I'm just not paying attention.

where do you live? ha ha

I used to live in the south. The "God" billboards were everywhere. Now I live in LA, and there aren't God billboards, but there are alcohol. However, there are also designer clothing, handbags, etc on billboards, GAP, IPOD, etc, etc

fact is - from an advertising standpoint, it's all about impressions and the target market. Billboard ads have a lot of reach so they're powerful. They are chosen as part of a campaign when they will be seen by a large number of the targeted audience that the product is going for. Hence a Marc Jacobs ad on Sunset Blvd and a God ad on a South Carolina HWY.

Maybe Sunset could use some God ads. Plus, that's not an Ad - its more of a public service announcement paid for by some sort of religious organization.

Maybe it is the region where you live. The billboards where I live mainly contain advertising for radio stations and news stations. There are some Realtor signs as well. I have never seen liquor advertising, and there was only a small window of "God said" advertising a couple of years ago.

I live in the DFW Metroplex.

I'm not sure where you live but the billboards on my commutes sell movies, and coca-cola, and television, and car insurance.

I don't know how long its been since I've seen a religious billboard.

I think it could be the priorities of the company/individual who Owns the billboards. They are like real estate, that space is rented.

Simple. Billboards are next to the road.

People driving are always looking for god to tell them where they can get the next drink.

My preacher refused to put any type of advertising up because he said that you shouln't have to advertise, the people should come because the church itself is a testement to God's word.
