I've been alone for about 2-3 years and its starting to finally phase me. I just haven't put time into it since my last situation. Now, I wanna try again but am nervous and kinda shy. I also am naturally soft-spoken, so breaking my own shell seems to be my big problem.
Any tips? thanks.

Make sure you look and smell good!!! And don't be shy...just think...that girl you saw and wanted to talk to might of been a real catch...but you didn't talk to her because you were to darn shy!! If a woman is interested in you coming up to her you will know...we have ways of inviting...i.e smiles, sexy eyes, or even staring! Get out there and have fun!!

Just ease into it. Don't put to much pressure on yourself. Build your confidence by just talking to girls first with no expectations of a date. This will take the pressure off of you and let you be yourself. That is the key being yourself, I personally love shy guys. Be a gentleman, hold open doors, compliment the lady. (no cheesy pick up lines) be a good listener! Women love a man who will listen to them. There are some good books you can get as well about over coming your shyness. And remember even the most confident and what may seem as "ladies men" strike out as well. They are usually the last person you should take advise from. If you have sisters or close females relatives or friends ask them what they find attractive in a guy, what gets their attention. Personally I hate the aggressive cocky, full of themself guys that come on too strong. Avoid meat market type places, which includes certain online dating sites. I know quite a few couples (who are now married) who have found love by using eharmony.

Been alone for 3 years, soft spoken, shy? You sure you're playing for the right team? First of all, you need to not be shy. Women don't want a shy guy, that's just lame, secondly, you need to get out there, play the field, start off by hitting on some fat chicks, build some confidence, then go after the prize. You also gotta think, do you want to find a wife, or do you wanna find some booty? To attract a girl, you need some wit, find a spot you like to hang, frequent that spot occasionally and see what kind of women hit that spot. Once you eye your prize, walk up to them, introduce yourself, and come up with something interesting to talk to her about, buy her a drink, ask her to have a seat. Once you get to that point, you're on your own man. Good luck!

There's no reason why you cant find somebody - though you may feel like being shy is holding you back, it might actually work to your advantage.

If you see somebody you are interested in, go for it... say "Hi", ask if you know them from somewhere... anything. The reason I say this is because one of two things could happen. The first, she could totally be into it, and thats great! Secondly, she could turn you down - which is also great, because you will probably be rejected a few times before you find the right fit.

Women are out there looking for guys just as much as guys are out there looking for the ladies. If you dont jump on an opportunity you will most likely regret that you didnt say anything.

Go for it, dont be afraid to be rejected. Every experience is a learning one, and you will find someone when it's right.

Be yourself! Some girls are naturally drawn to shy guys, I know I sure am! Find confidence in yourself and you will come across someone you like who will like the soft-spoken side of you a lot!

Read the book "the secret" and you can have a girlfriend in a couple weeks. I'm not kidding, I was a skeptic when I first read it, but now I am doing a lot better at life if that makes sense. Also check your hair, skin, attitude, and don't be rude. Above all, don't be rude. I can't stand it when guys are rude.

well you must know they dont come to you & beat your door down hey!! so you have to go where they are, clubs, sport church etc & be your NICE witty self, nice clean clothes etc & a smile helps big time
& ask her all about her!
what job, family, friends,
talk about whats happening in the world tv shows movies
computers like here at this site to see if she likes it lol
she may like sport or play it etc &
just ask her out to a movie
thats the best place for a first date dont have to talk to much & over a hot chocolate you can talk about the movie :)

Since you know that you are shy, don't go to clubs or to bars since those are noisy, highly competitive, and (in my opinion) most people who frequent there aren't looking for long term.

It helps if you are naturally friendly, and I know a lot of women would prefer a man who is genuine and doesn't use pick up lines.

If it helps, I met my husband while standing in line. He asked me for directions.

I am guessing by your name that you are a bit of a hippie. Go do some hippie stuff like frisbee golf and see some shows. That will get ya started on meeting people - especially if you bring some good beer :o)
