ok so today i walk into a store to purchase some ciggarettes and like always i hand him my identification card. he takes 1 look at and and says why is your card so scratched up. (f.y.i readers) the card is over 3 years old now and i had lost it over a dozen times and all times i had it returned to me by the finder! plus i dont own a wallet i always keep it in my back pocket amongst other things and its constantly getting bent and scratched up! so i explain politely to the store owner what i just told u guys. he takes another look at it and says "what, are u cutting coke on it? "it looks like youre cutting coke on it, i was a cop for 20 years" so now im mad and just tell him u know thats very rude to be just coming out your mouth like that to someone u dont even know! i wanted to punch him in his face....he mad me look like i was some coke head in front of all these costumers! now what i want to know is what would ya have done and is there anything more i should be doing here!!!

I would've done the same thing you did, then snatch my id right from his hand and take my business elsewhere.

You do have every right to be outraged; you were gracious enough to answer his question (which you didn't have to do) and he took that gift and ran with it--in the wrong direction.
Don't assume he was the store owner, unless you know. If he really did 'used to be a police officer' then he's on the way down in his career since he's a store clerk, so he's worse off than you.
Don't sweat the small stuff, though. He's wrong, but you're better than that. The people in line think he's a jerk if they think anything at all. Next time, walk right up to him, smile, and ask how's his 'buddies' on the police force!

You know honestly I would've smiled really big and told him I guess thats why you're a retired cop now because lord knows a desk jockey cop sure knows what a cocaine habbit looks like. What with all that experience riding a desk I'm certainly glad to see you still know your way around ignorance. And then I would've thanked him kindly and told him to have a nice day being a register jockey and I'm so glad he's moved up in this world and is putting his 20 years of cop experience to good use.

The best revenge, is not to shop there anymore.
I had a furniture business that screwed me in a deal. I tried my best for them to fix my BRAND NEW washer when they delivered it, it wouldn't work. NO LUCK! I was a single mom with 2 kids.
SO, when things got better for me and I was able to buy new furniture, TV's, CD players, bunk beds, Fridge, Stove, Dishwasher, Sofa, Recliners.... Each Time I would call them and say (family owned and run business) "I need a new fridge.. but I'm NOT buying it from you. Aren't you sorry you screwed me?
I've called probably 25 times in the past 10 years.
Sorry Russell's Country Store! *RASPBERRIES*

I'd take my business else where. If you were a cop for twenty years why do you even need to show the ID. You've got to look older than 18. Screw him. You're letting him win because you are getting upset over his ignorants.

He probably had a bad day and took it out on you. He was totally in the wrong.
The best thing to do in situations like this is to smile and say, "I'm sorry you're having such a bad day. I really hope it will get better." They'll either feel like sh*t and be nicer and you can continue your business, or they'll continue to be an a@@ and you can inform them they've permanently lost your business and walk out.

I would have simply insulted him and left his store. Onanother note, why don't you have a wallet? By trying to be so different from the norm you have inadvertently focused unwanted attention on yourself because you keep losing your ID and it keeps getting f'ed up.
Moral of the story is, you want to be different then be ready for all the *** holes out there who are going to insult you for being not normal. ANd yes, not having a wallet and losing your ID a dozen times is not normal.

I went it to an electrical store to buy something, the owner said 'WHAT DO YOU WANT! I walked straight out and never went back. Being black i get that a lot, it's either walk out or go back and torch the place. I forgot to mention the owner was also black.

If you can, don't buy from him again. If you want to do something about it, say something nasty/sarcastic to him the next time you are there and then stop going to his store. You can say "I don't believe you are an ex-cop, you carry yourself more like a jerk".

“20 years of police work, and now your checking id’s in a convenience store. How sad is that? Just give me my Cigarettes and you can go back to dreaming about the good old days before you kicked off the force Sargeant Friday”

I would just have agreed with the chap, and said "Yes, it is a bit scratched! "
Thank goodness he 'used' to be a cop and is not now, I suppose he's RETIRED and bought the shop with his pension that "we, the people pay".
