This is why Capitalism is a mess. It works on the theory that "everyone" can be rich if they only work hard enough etc etc and if you're not rich its because you're lazy, stupid, unmotivated, drunk, morally lacking, blah de blah (check the answers given by the average American Y/Answerer when asked about Socialism vs Capitalism)
But as you clearly state, not everyone CAN be rich because it just would not be possible to run a world like that. There aren't enough well paid jobs to go round. If there were they wouldn't be so well paid!!!

Robots.
Though, of course, there would be liberals vigorously campaigning for Robot's Rights.
Actually, another possibility is that some work would be done by volunteers and hobbyists. No one might /need/ to work as a mechanic, but some guys might still enjoy working on cars. No one would /need/ an MDs income, but some would still like 'helping people.' It'd never be enough to meet demand, if human-suplied labor was still an important aspect of the economy, but it would probably be a non-trivial phenomenon.

There are about 168 countries in the world - you live in one of the wealthiest 10 of those countries. On a world wide scale, you are rich. Do you work? Do you feel rich?

If all of us were given the same amount of money, within a year, the rich would still be rich, and the poor will have lost all their money to the rich. So the poor would have to go back to work. So my answer is... in a year you would have all your workers back.

The criminals? Of course that brings up the moral dilemma of the courts convicting innocent people or giving too long sentences...just to increase the labor pool. Guess we'd have to take turns volunteering otherwise...wouldn't that be fun to volunteer for different jobs just for the fun of it...of course we'd have to volunteer for the training first and be trained by other volunteers...

We will never all be rich but I wonder what people would do without anybody to work in service occupations. Who'd clean the john? Who'd mop the floor? Who'd bus tables in restaurants? Who'd drive buses? Machines can't do everything.

The only way we can all be rich is if we get machines to do all our work for us. Otherwise, you'll always need many cheap laborers to support a few rich people.

well then it become a matter of Rich categories...and the richest of rich would jack up prices so that the just made it rich will be the poor and we will be in the same place now...
so we'd still be working for the Richer people

If we were all rich, then we could hire people to do all that work for $50 a hour, which would make them well off too. It would get rid of all illegals too.
