There are different types of staph infections. The red bump along with fever is likely a form called folliculitis - this is the most common type of staph infection, and most people will have this happen hundreds of times during their lifetime. It does not need special medical treatment unless it starts spreading.

That doesn't mean your cousin doesn't have anything serious. Anytime a person has difficulty breathing along with a fever - they should get to a doctor - this is characteristic of pneumonia.

Ignore the red bump. Go to this link and print it out for your aunt to read:

I had staph many times. It sounds like it might be. She should see a doctor immediately. An antibiotic might cure it. Here are some other things that help.:

1. a zinc supplement. take it with a meal.

2. hot baths. this helps it drain.

Best wishes.

Yes, it could be staph. She needs to go to the emergency room and have them take care of it.
