No, but I have felt the heat of their fiery dragon breath and noticed a faint smell of sulfur in the air.

Some, yes. They're a tad touchy about things that don't line up with their interpretations of Scripture, or that they don't understand or have been misinformed about, but at least willing to hear our viewpoint -- even if they end up saying "nope, sorry, can't get behind that". I have no problem with respectful disagreement.
The other variety, though -- who are here only to spew garbage, and block those of the faith (or lack thereof) they're slamming in order to get in their digs unchallenged -- I submit that these are not Bible-fundamentalists at all, but bigots hiding behind the Bible as a bunker from which to lob hate-bombs. No love lost there, or even pretended.

I don't think it's fair to expect the love of God to emanate from every post. Jesus had a very different emanation in his messages about "whitewashed tombs" (Matt 23:27), "unmarked graves" (Luke 11:44), and "your father the Devil" (John 8:44).
What we do expect is a serious attempt to answer questions, specific biblical references as evidence, and some attempt to respond to the contrary evidence. Most evangelical posters have not been meeting these standards.
Cheers,
Bruce

I feel a glow of warmth when they show a willingness to listen to a reasoned apology for the Catholic faith.
But it's been pretty frigid around here lately. At first I thought it was just the chill of an early fall.
But I got blocked the other day and labeled a "Catholic Commissar." My crime? Using my history book to prove that some Catholics suffered martyrdom at the hands of the Church of England.

I have felt the anger...but not the love.
I would daresay hatred, too...but it's slightly different...more like hateful rage.

as a liberal Christian I can attest that many of those people really do mean well, and can be very loving, decent people... but like any humans, they have their blind spots. So do you or I.
