Drinking alcohol frees people of their inhibitions. The women who get louder when drinking would like to be louder in real life (or at least be listened to in real life). Loudness of voice could equal being more open or more outgoing in sober life....if that makes sense.

Inebriation causes a change in the sensation of reality, Then they feel that they can do anything and not have any consequences. Causing them to become more boisterous and sexually open to suggestion. usually a group of women protect each other but, sometimes the group gets out of hand.
Sometimes it is to get attention, because they didn't have it as a child, or they are lonely but too "stuck up" to be open to a new relationship. who really knows... women are a Rubik's cube to a blind person.

I think EVERYONE gets louder when they're drunk.
As for a group of girls...well, the bar seems to get louder as the night goes on and more people cram inside, so you have to talk louder to be heard. The same could be said about a group of guys...especially when the game is on.

I have observed that women and men do the same. While it could be seen as a competitive mentality, I don't concur that it is. I believe it is just a matter of a loss of inhibition due to the alcohol consumed. The more drinking, the more loss of inhibition thus louder.

They're beginning to loose their perception of time, coordination and relativity in relation to speech.
I don't think that it's an attention grabbing thing. At that point, they're not seeking, per se, attention, but communication within the group in which it seems one of the side effects of going out and having a good time at a certain BAC level is becoming more vocal.

Loud, obnoxious, inferiority complex, uncomfortable with oneself, jealous, needs attention, thinks she's the looker in the bunch, drunk. Trying to get the guys to check her out above the other girls. A combination of all the above. Acting out and letting her hair down. A word of advise: Don't go looking for Mrs. Right at the bar, you won't find her there.

Women in a group of women can relax and have a good time. They aren't worried about how they look or what they say. Some women are intimidated by the opposite sex and can be free and more themselves around just other women.

Well based on observing my sister's behaviour, some women seem to think that drinking absolves them of responsibility for their behaviour when drunk. So if they want to get loud, be obnoxious etc. it's "OK" because "I was drunk."
My sister eventually drank herself to death, but not before alienating everyone in the family and ruining 4 attempts at marriage.
