I am looking to spend $600-$1500 on my A/V receiver and I want to know if there is a receiver in my price range that will allow me to hook up my HD DVD, DVR, BluRay, Wii etc. and run those components via 1 HDMI out to each HDTV so that I don't have to have a receiver and components in each room??? I also need the receiver to power speakers in each room as well, although I don't Have To have surround in both if that won't work?
OK thanks for the help... Not to be reduntant, but basically I want 1 (Denon) receiver, 1 bluray, 1 DVR, 1 HD DVD, 1 Wii and I want to be able to access each one of them on each of my 2 HDTVs in my family room and master bedroom. The TVs will get cable and HD programming via cable cards. If it is possible I'd like1 HDMI cable to each TV be enough to access all of the components. I am sure we have to run speaker wires to power the surround in family and floorspeakers in the master.
THANKS SO MUCH, I am almost there thanks to help from the community!

Yamaha RX-V3800 is only around 1500 bucks and does the same things as the Denon and the Onkyo. 4 HDMI in, 2 out. Like the previous poster said, this will not matrix (allow you to use both HDMI outputs at the same time on different sources) but with RS232, distributed IR or RF you can at least control things from the second room.

If I understand it correctly you are looking for some sort of matrix switcher for your HDMI outputs. I see a few issues and at least for the Wii you will need a receiver that will upconvert all video to HDMI. In this case the Wii will need to be run thru the receiver (I picked the Denon 3808 for this purpose as I knew it would work) in this case hook up with component and have the receiver upconvert the image (only one for a progressive 480p output you will need a settings change from default).

This same arrangement should be used for any other devices that are less than HDMI, like maybe the DVR, but know that you will have to choose between each as the conversion only works for one component at a time.

You will need a distribution switcher as found below, HDMI is more of a novelty for receivers, matrix distribution like other companies offer in analog is not coming along fast. You may also require a transcoder for lengths of HDMI over 30 ft as that is the raged edge of performance, see below for the fiber optic transcoder set up. To get best results in your case you should consult a private install and see what they offer. In this case a DIY could cost you a whole lot more in the long run.

EDIT:

Additionally I have not come across a receiver that can do all in one what you want, yet. That said the 4808 has dual HDMI outputs, you can only use one at a time but with rs232 control this could be an option for you as well. You would remotely select from another room to control your amp to output video for that output and have audio over HDMI as well. You may also need a Denon IR repeater to get full functionality. Again depending on your set up you have a lot of options.

The best value for the buck in recievers with 2 HDMI output is Onkyo tx-nr905. It is HDMI 1.3a, all HD audio formats, multizone, great video processor - the works! You can find one on the net for around $1800. I like it better that Denon.

As far as Wii is concerned - you will need to run the remote sensor into the second room. There are wired and wireless ones - I do not know if the wireless one will work between the rooms.

You will also need a RF remote with addressable RF/IR transmitter to operate the equipment in different rooms. Your two better options are Logitech Harmony 890 (comes with 1 receiver - need to get another one) or Universal Remotes MX-850 (you need to get 2 RF receivers)

Yes you can get a receiver that will act as a switcher box for your HDMI inputs and outputs. You may need to look at a Yamaha I find they seem to be the most up to date on these type of things. Also sending sound to both rooms is easy but most likely only surround sound in one room and stereo in the other. Your bigger problem is the wiimote has a limited range and you may not be able to put the wii in one room and use the wiimote in another to run it.
