If the gun is in his hand, and there is any movement whatsoever, they shoot him, understandably. If it's a gun on his person, it is removed during a search.

If they surprise the officer by pointing a gun at them, the procedure is to shoot them until they are no longer pointing the gun.
Officers are not supposed to risk their lives waiting to see IF the person is going to do something. It only takes a millisecond for that person to pull the trigger and end the officer's life.

A person with a gun is a threat. They would meet the cirteria for use of deadly force because they have met the deadly force triangle, capability, opportunity, intent.
capability- person has a deadly weapon
opportunity- person is present
intent- person pointed weapon at you
This gives the officer the o.k. to use deadly force.

If I encounter a person with a gun, and I feel like I or another innocent person is threatened, I am going to shoot them.
If one bullet is good two are better.
