no less than 20% of the daily calories should be derived from fats. of that you want 50% to be unsaturated fats, several grams daily of omega fatty acids and around 25% to be saturated.

1 gram of protein/carbohydrate = 4 cals
1 gram of fat = 9 cals

so if your daily caloric intake is 1600 cals it would be:

1600 x .2 = 320 cals or 35 grams or fats

* too little fats in the diet can not only cause health problems over a long time but they cause testosterone production to decrease. which causes a decrease in the metabolic rate which makes fat loss harder and fat storage easier

Average Daily intakes are supposed to be 60 and 85 for a 2000 and a 3000 calorie a day diet.

I would suggest taking in less than 60 grams of fat a day.

Well, it would be 60 grams of fat and 2,000 calories per day to maintain your weight.

But if you are trying to lose weight, you should not have more than 40 grams of fat and 1,800 calories per day.

Also, if you are trying to lose weight, you will need to do a bit of exercise a day (30 minutes to one hour).

Drink a gallon of water a day to keep your body well hydrated, and cut back on sodas. Eat fruits instead of junk foods.

Cheers

No more than 35 fat grams. Make sure they are made up of non trans fatty acids, nothing consisting of saturated fats. Poly and mono unsaturated are better for your body.

60 grams of fat is for an adult male.

Well, not too much but of course you need some fat for energy and other metabolic processes - I'd say that it should constitute no more than 15% of your caloric intake/ so from that you can see there is no 'fixed' amount. Just keep it to a minimum by avoiding 'the junk'.
