Baby Gabriel has been living here for 2 plus years with a very loving foster family. They have other children whom he plays with and has grown attached to.
Do you think it's rediculous to deport him to Mexico? The media won't talk about the drastic difference in living conditions and I think that is a valid point. do you? hasn't political correctness gone tooooo far?!
Our governor isn't quite sure what he can do about it even though he's the only one who we all know CAN do something about it.
Has anyone been following this?

I live in oregon where this is happening and i think it's insane that we're even talking about it.
90% of the people that answered you on here are either heartless or just stupid.
Why would you take any child away from a loving family?!
I saw the interview with his Grandmama and I thought that's nice, her place looks ok, but it's not about that.
I didn't hear her mention, once, not once, about how she loved this baby. Nothing?!
All she could talk about was what she was remodeling in her home and where he would play and where his new bathroom was. What a ******* joke!
This other family living here is absolutely heart sick over this and our future former governor is a fool.
and yes, i call it deportation. he's a citizen. period.
why can't the grandma come up here and get to know him? introduce herself?
this chit seems so backwards and i agree that the political corectness in this country has gone waaaay too far!
I am proud to be in the united states, THE LAND OF OPPORTUNITY! and i'm not afraid to say, yes, more opportunity then mexico.

Until there are consistant and enforcable laws, across all the countries we are going to face a ton of situations like this if they keep acting like people can roam borders freely and break whatever laws they deem fit without some serious problems to innocent people.
Like it or not the child is a minor and the blood family has rights that trump foster parents.
I don't know this story in detail and it is sad this child is put in the middle but there has to be lines drawn. And sorry.....like it or not.....poverty is not enough of an excuse for not giving a child to it's blood relatives if they want them, or before long you may have people tearing your babies from your arms because someone can care better for them than you.
This is one reason people need to think through their decisions to come here illegally and have kids, marry someone here illegally and have kids because a little flutter in your best laid plans and dreams, could be the end for an innocent child and they could end up much worse than you could ever imagine.
What's gonna happen when some illegal thug marries an American citizen and flees the country with your child? What if, because of their culture, it's fine to prostitue your child or sell them? What if their country has such a huge underground it's impossible to find them or their government refuses to help or maybe believes since it was the childs father you have no rights to the child because women have no legal grounds?
They put the cart before the horse when they didn't establish rules for this long before they allowed a flood of legal and illegal people with so many different cultures and laws to bring children into the mix. Heck we can't track deadbeat parents across state lines in our own country....let alone countries and all those additional problems.
That kids parents should have made legal papers to determine where that child should go before it went this far. I blame them......not our government doing it's job. Oh gee maybe they couldn't because they were illegal? Hey....abide by the law and look how many problems you would avoid.

How sad that we do not deport those who are here illegally, but do try to deport a USA citizen, with a mother who is also a USA citizen., maybe the money the State of Oregon, will be paying the grandmother in Mexico has sealed the deal

Yes I saw the news and I feel so bad about Gabriel, He is so cute and his foster family seems to love him, I think they are making a mistake sending that child to Mexico, I saw the conditions how his grandma lives, he don't deserve to live in those conditions, I really wish his foster parents will keep him. this child is an American so they have to let him stay here with out his biological parents. Good Luck to Gabriel!!!
Sorry for the rude answers, some People answering in this category thinks Immigration = Hate . So Good day to you!

If the only family member that wants the child is in Mexico, yes, he should be sent to live with her.
With living relatives that would not relinquish him, he will remain in foster care until he is 18 years old. Just because he is now with a loving family, he can be taken from that home and placed in another at the whim of the foster care agency.

It is normal for the governing agencies to try to place an orphaned child with their nearest blood relative. If the child is an American citizen, then he could return to the US quite easily when he is an adult, but in the mean time, he would be in the care of his relatives; I don't see the problem. You must understand that the foster care system is designed to be temporary and the ultimate goal of Human Services is to place the child in a permanent living situation and preferably with a relative.

Not if he's legal, no he should not be sent back. He has people taking care of him too. Foster parents take care of many children of different races, nationalities, and ethnicity. They do get aid in taking care of these children, and I don't mind that. I mind taking care of illegal aliens. Those are the people who we should be concentrating on and sending back, not concentrating on a legal child who is also being taken care of by people who are not illegally here.

He's illegal and as such subject to deportation. Your Governor has no say in the federal application of federal law.
He has no jurisdiction in the matter.
You can't deport American citizens. Your question needs a link or citation for proof.

I am not sure about the specifics but i have seen a bit about this on the news. I believe a precedent has been set in this kind of thing when that boy was sent to cuba to be with his father.

I think it's always better for a child to be raised by his own family, than to be taken away by the government. Maybe not always 'better' in the sense of the number and quality of lead-painted Chinese toys he gets to play with, but better in the moral and ethical sense.
