I think that politicians making a statement like “Our way of life” have us believe that we must agree with them. Somehow, the word “our” allures us to find the actions of the politicians justifiable—like wars.

They do that to make you feel included if you agree and isolated if you don't. Obviously included is better...

I really hate that politicians aren't responsible for what they say any more. Our leaders used to write their own material and speak off the cuff. Now everything that spews out of a politician's mouth - regardless of party affiliation - is so well rehearsed, the words so carefully chosen that you never get a real sense of what the actually feel or mean or stand for or even if they're smart enough to hold public office. There REALLY ought to be a minimum standard for intelligence in our elected officials......lol.

I'm with spartan on this one.

"Our" does include me. Maybe my way of life is not the same as the president's way of life... in fact it definitely isn't... he makes much, much more money than I do... but the ONE thing we all have in common is our freedom. That is what they are talking about when they say, "our way of life." They are talking about the ONE thing that we all DO have in common.

they're definitely trying to find some middle ground or common ground.

Ironically their pompous, pampered, catered, spoiled lifestyle is the furthest thing from "our way of life".

We, as in majority vote, put them in office to represent us so I guess when they say "our" they are speaking for us. Not that I agree with their way of life because usually I don't.

I suppose That's why we need to vote!!

it's not 'our' way of life, is their way of life, trying to imposed it upon us. my way of life has nothing to do with them
