Well it really depends.
In some families where religion is forced or members don't understand it, then the family is torn.
However I feel that religion is one way that definitely keeps families together as religions often have moral codes that ensure people to do the "right" thing in situations and generally theses families are stronger. Which can't be bad thing, so religion can be a good thing in this case.

What kind of 'position' are you asking about....!
Religion does help families stay together, but on the other hand, it can (through attitudes) have the opposite effect and create huge rifts that in some cases, never heal.

it really depends on the religion it self.such as Islam. the family members in that religion should stay together and help each other and respect parents and elderly people . so if it was this religion id say yes.

The answer is yes, if the family shares common belief and faith. Having anything whether it is a religion, values, morals, interests, etc.., that a family has in common and that acts as a binding agent and gives them hope during rough times, is helpful.

I will say just having religion...NO. Having God in your family...YES. Just going to church or saying God is in your home is not the same as turning yours and your families life to christ. Accept Christ as your savior and you will be amazed at how the quality of your life improves. Not all of your problems will disappear, but with Jesus on your side, there will be nothing you can't conquer!

I think that Love is what keeps families together, and the highest form of Love is the love of God (Allah). It is this love that makes either spouse accept the short comings of the other, because they know that God will reward them for their patience.

The only thing that religion does is start rows or even wars, just take a look back in history.

Yes. It definately does. Sharing faith with your family can get you through a lot, especially deaths, accidents, and unfortunately a lot of other bad, sad things.
