It is a temporary solution which will lead to even a bigger problem. Alcohol is a depressant so if you are depressed, it will make things worse. I don't recommend the use of alcohol to numb the pain because when it wears off, the pain will be even worse along with the remorse because you may do something that you regret. My advice is to get counselling and have a good support system. I know it hurts, but we all go through breakups and we do survive. I know you have probably heard it before, but time does heal. Try to find something fun to do and good people to hang out with. As time goes by, you will meet someone again. No alcohol, it will only lead to more heartaches and dependancy or addiction which will cause too much more misery in your life. Good luck-you'll make it.

not numb any pain physically, but emotionally. alcohol will temporarily take your mind off of anything of importance. the key word is temporarily. Alot of people continue to seek out that "carefree feeling" they had when getting drunk, that is how some become alcoholics. Now you'll have a broken heart and a drinking problem (could result in embarrassment, family arguements, depression, loss of finances, etc). Not a very good solution, heh?

In most cases it makes it worse! And if it numbs it, it's only temporally. Then the next day, you are hung over and still hurting! Better to try to work thru it, w/o alcohol. Trust me, it doesn't help in the long run!

No it does not.. It will only make it worse. If you want to be calling your ex in the middle of the night crying acting a fool, then go ahead. But if I were you I would steer clear until you are over it. Try smoking some green. It will put u in a happy place

Drinking doesn't help face the reality of any problem. It just prolongs it.
The next day the problem is still there, but you're sober.
Time to drink again??

Depends on the individual. Alcohol can make you even more depressed, or it can make you forget about things temporarily, but the pain will come back when you sober up.
