It can happen either way I think. It might be harder to transition into dating if you're friends for a long time first but you will have a WONDERFUL basis that can make for a great relationship. If you first meet with the intention of being in a relationship it's important that you develop one along the way. Basically, you can't love somebody you don't like.

Yeah, the only thing wrong with it,
is when/if you break up.
unless you guys are really close
and have talked about it..
you have a chance of losing them.
But theres always some good out of trying it out

I wouldn't date (repeatedly) someone who I wouldn't have as a friend, but I don't often date people who are already my friends...
