David_CarringtonJr -- with all due respect, is not the Pope just a man? Is he any closer to God than the person who just accepted Jesus Christ as I typed this reply?

In Christ are we not all forgiven?

I really would ask you to try to explain how that all the warnings about following the commandments of men does not apply to the Pope's declaration.

What commandments of the Pope are you talking about?

To the best of my knowledge, the Pope has never added to the Ten Commandments.

With love in Christ.

They are the commandments of Men, especially where they diverge from the commandments of God.
For example, the Catholic church changed the 10C's in their catechism by eliminating the 2nd commandment (because they were guilty of that), and changing the "Sabbath" of the 4th commandment to "the Lord's Day" so they can call it Sunday, even though the Bible plainly states that the Sabbath is the Lord's Day, and that Jesus is the Lord of it.
They also had to split the 10th commandment in two, because they still had to have 10 commandments.
Also, anyone who claims to be the "representative of Christ on Earth" while at the same time saying, "We may come from monkeys", is a liar, and is NOT the representative of Christ, but the representative of Satan.

There are no "commandments of the pope." The Catholic Church uses the commandments of the Bible, same as protestants but numbered a little differently. You'll note they are NOT numbered in Scriptures. We put the "I am the Lord" and "Have no other gods before Me" in the same commandment because, well, they belong together, and we divide "Covet your neighbor's wife" and "covet your neighbor's belongings" into two different commandments because these are two very different types of sin.

It's very logical.

The Holy Father, The Pope, Is the successor to Peter. He is the Vicar of Christ, the Holy see. His holiness interprets the scriptures as he is lead by the Holy Spirit.
Also, Many people like to point out that the word Pope isn't in the Bible. Please remember that the word Bible isn't in the scriptures either.

You will not be able to contrast the commandments of the Pope to the commandments of God in the Bible, since there is no Pope referenced in the BIble
***
You will find that the man some refer to as the first Pope, Peter, was rebuked when he failed to teach the commandments of God, and taught his own doctrine
Galatians 2:11 "Now when Peter had come to Antioch, I (Paul) withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed;"
***
Therefore, one must conclude that only the commandments of God are valid
Matthew 15:9 And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.'"

Are the Commandments of Moses commandments of God or of Men? You tell me the difference.

God directed Moses to give us the commandments.
Jesus directed the Apostle to designate apostles, ministers, teachers, deacons, presbyters. By Jesus Authority they instructed priests, bishops, deacons through the gift conferred by the laying on of hands. But then admonished them NOT lay hands on too readily on anyone.

Even St Paul upon his conversion to Christ Jesus traveled to St Peter the chief Apostle among the Apostles.
2000 years is hard to fight.

The edicts of the pope are the edicts of God only to the extent that they agree with the Bible. When they disagree with the Bible then they are from his own mind.

When the Pope issues official statements, there is a hierarchy of authority to his statements. Some statements are made in his capacity as the head of the catholic church. In the highest classification, he is assumed to be speaking as god, and infallible.

Addendum:

Of COURSE the pope is just a man! I was merely explaining the religious dogma. I don't actually believe the clerical nonsense!

There is no "pope" in the Bible; he is a false prophet.

Catholics are not saved because catholics believe a false gospel of works that leads to eternal hell (Galatians 1).

What about your own traditions of men like denying John Six "My Flesh is food indeed"?
Should not you be beginning to take your own moral and doctrinal inventory?
