Depending on how severe it is, a lot of the time your mind will block it out (for your own sake), and you won't remember much of the actual accident.
That's how it was for mine.

Injury-wise? You can come out of it without a scratch, have minor injuries, have life-threatening injuries, lose a limb, & spend 7 weeks in the hospital (like myself), or you could die.
