first off you need to realize this is gonna change things as you no it. if it dosent work you may never be friends again. make sure this is what you really want. if it is i would talk to her. if you have been real close friends for that long you need to be upfront and honest. maybe say something like.
we have been really good friends for 4 yrs and i have developed really strong feelings for you and i would like to take you out. but if you dont want to or you need to think about it that is fine. i dont want this to change everything, i just want you to no how i feel
good luck

Okay You Like Your Close Friend Right.?
Wells If She Shows A Way That She Likes You Also Then Thats A Good Thing.
Just Be Honest With Her And Tell Her How You Feel.
If She Doesnt Feel The Same Just Say I Don't Want You To Hate Me Because Of This And I Still Want To Remain Being Your Friend But Mostly The Only Way To Find Out If She Likes You Is To Tell Her How You Feel.
Good Luck.

The important thing is that you tell her. I was best friends with a guy for 14 years before he told me he was in love with me. By then I was married and had kids. There were times throughout the years when I wondered, but I never knew. When he finally told me I was angry that he would wait until my life was going the right way. We ended up in a screaming match in his yard. We don't even talk anymore. This all happened because he waited so long to tell me. My point is, just tell her. The wording will work it's self out. Timing is what really matters.

Tell her that you want more out of the relationship, or tell her you want to be with her on a differnt level....You have been friends for 4 years she has probably been waiting for you to say something....Let her know how you feel because if you don't you will regret it for the rest of your life.....Don't wait do it today.....You can tell her anything...

If she is that close, a frank, honest conversation along the lines of,
"Hey...do you ever think of me romantically?"
"I've been wondering if we would make a good couple?"
If she isn't interested, say, "That's cool" and stay friends, because she may change her mind later (now that the thought is in her head)
Good Luck!
Don't be crude or vulgar and respect her if she isn't interested...she will respect you for asking nicely...

Prepare yourself to be let down. She may not be interested. Also, she may have been waiting for this for a long time
