Coming out in bunches is not normal.I have a cocker spaniel that sheds but not in bunches. I find what works for me is i get her completely clipped except half of her ears then i brush daily. He may need a trip to the vet to see if the amount of shedding is normal and if it is then go to the groomer and get a good clipping and regular brushing.Cocker Spaniels shed.

Cocker Spaniels, like a lot of other long hair dogs, will shed a lot!
daily grooming, including brushing twice daily, will great reduce this problem.
also, shampoos, and perhaps a trip to the groomers monthly may help.....just a thought.

As a trainer i recommend feeding a higher quality food, daily brushing, and weekly trips to a qualified groomer. Pet stores and veterinarians sell pills and powder you can add to their food that will help.

Don't fret, I hear the ladies like it bald these days...or at most a small landing pad. You lady will like your cocker more and it sounds like you don't even have to shave it! Good for you!

I took our Russian Blue to the groomer and she gave her a bath with a silicone shampoo. It greatly reduced her shedding.
