-when some one suffers from an organ failure(i.e it can't perform its normal functions any more) , this organ will be surgically removed and replaced another taken from a donor who is usually a relative to avoid graft rejection by the immune system of the recipient as they have many genes in common , and also immunosupressive drugs are given to ensure the success of the operation.

-examples are kidney transplant while the donor could live with only one kidney, and heart or liver transplants which are taken from a dead donor.

n.b: in transplantation the donor and recepient must have the same blood group.

Transplant surgery is a surgery done which transfers an organ (part or a whole) from one body to another OR moving from donor site of someone own's body to another site. It is done mainly to replace the damaged or failing organ with another that is still working. The donor of the organ can either be a living or a deceased one.

There are so many examples for that:
>>kidney transplant
>>heart transplant
>>liver transplant
>>lung transplant
>>pancreas transplant
>>intestinal transplant
>>bone marrow transplant
>>corneal transplant
>>bone transplant
>>skin transplant
>>various tissue transplants
>>etc.

It's removing an organ from one person and putting it in another. Usually it's from someone who has just died in an accident. This is where most hearts come from, for example. But sometimes a close relative will donate a kidney, since we each have two.

When you take one organ from a person (deceased or alive) and place it into another person, it is being transplanted, such as kidney or heart transplant surgery.
