Right get a note book. Now write down pain descriptions as in sharp, dull, achy, persistent, transient. Now when you get the pain, open up the note book and write down date, time, what you ate, what you drank and pain description, dull, sharp, acute, sudden, knife, screwdriver....... Then add what you were doing before the pain, for example if the pain hits at 7pm, what did you do that day, meals, work, exercise, worry, problems. If the pain hits at 7am, again write down what you did, 'Got out of bed and ...' Now keep this up for two weeks and then look back to see if 'you' can make any connection, like the pain occurs after eating? Pain after an argument. Pain while doing nothing. When I get up in the morning? Every time I eat bread I get the pain. Then take the note book back to the Doc and show it to him.
Doctors are humans and they need information outside of 'Hey Doc I am having Chest Pains, do something!' If you can prove a pattern to the pain, then they should be able to rule out X and rule in Y and it could be something a silly as having an allergy to wheat!
Good luck
