as long as they're not wrapped? Isn't the spirit of the giver in celebration of those holidays? How can calling it something else in your own head (Yearly Bonus, or a "just because" gift) change the fact that they are in actuality Christmas and Birthday presents? I can't understand how this is not hypocritical.

I dated a devout Witness for a while in high school.

CRONCKERS- your co-workers and yourself are not given the bonuses in December for your hard work. They are given to you for a Christmas present. What you do with the money is irrelevant. Otherwise, they would not be CALLED Christmas Bonuses. Just because you have requested that your Christmas Bonus not be presented to you in a Christmas card does not change what it is. You just want the money bad enough to to find loopholes around accepting it.

Jehovah's Witnesses work to please God and Christ, and understand that no seeming "loophole" could ever deceive the divine judges who can read the heart.
...(1 Samuel 16:7) Mere man sees what appears to the eyes; but as for Jehovah, he sees what the heart is.
...(Jeremiah 17:10) I, Jehovah, am searching the heart, examining the kidneys, even to give to each one according to his ways
...(Mark 2:8) Jesus, having discerned immediately by his spirit that they were reasoning that way in themselves, said to them: “Why are you reasoning these things in your hearts?
...(Genesis 18:25) Is the Judge of all the earth not going to do what is right?

A Jehovah's Witness may choose to accept a bonus or a gift if he sincerely believes that the giver intends it to be something other than an aspect of a pagan celebration. It would seem that a critic who pretends some special insight into the conscientious thoughts of another may benefit from professional counseling and the bible's practical advice.
...(Psalm 119:69,70,78) The presumptuous have smeared me with falsehood. As for me, with all my heart I shall observe [God's] orders. Their heart has become unfeeling... Let the presumptuous ones be ashamed
...(Proverbs 11:27) He that is looking for good will keep seeking goodwill; but as for the one searching for bad, it will come upon him.

I work hard all year for the bonus that is given to me at the end of the year. I do not use the money I have received to buy Christmas presents. I do not accept birthday gifts, cards or presents. My family who celebrates birthdays & holidays do not give me anything thing in connection with these. As for my yearly bonus, I can not tell my company when to give out a bonus for my yearly work. If this sincerely stumbles anyone at any given time, I would not accept the bonus. I am very fortunate that my company is understanding to my beliefs. I can not change the opinions that you have about Jehovah's Witnesses in connection with Christmas bonuses & Birthday presents.

Jehovah's Witnesses are not hypocritical. We live our lives in harmony with the Bible. Personally, I accept people for the way they are.

Hmmm. a million funds as against eternal existence...enable me see...hmm. maximum folk could pay a million funds for eternal existence, could they not? So shop the money. you opt for it greater effective than I do. If i'm prepared to provide up my existence to earnings existence, then how lots greater am I prepared to provide up a million funds. (Mark 8:35-37) If I reject a million dollar present, have I lost something? No. If I settle for it, i will lose my eternal existence. If not by ability of accepting it, then by ability of letting it corrupt me. Sherry B is right. Jehovah's Witnesses have not got a limit on accepting Christmas presents that I fairly have considered. yet it is the rub for me: by ability of accepting a Christmas present, I open myself as much as accusation. the two they are announcing "I gave you a recent, now you're able to reciprocate or you're sinning," or they are announcing "You known a recent, so your faith shouldn't mean that lots to you," or that's a bribe and that they're going to assume a want. yet as quickly as I reject the present, their thoughts may well be harm, yet that's not my difficulty. each and every person who is conscious me is conscious my stand, and if I could clarify it to them and that they nevertheless opt for to stress the present on me, that's their difficulty, not mine. They on my own are responsible respecting themselves. no remember the way you look at it, that's a blood present and that i would be unable to settle for it. as properly, if i'm not meant to settle for a birthday present meant for myself, why could I settle for a birthday present meant for Jesus? the version between presents is reason. in the event that they are announcing that's a Christmas or birthday present, then that's an criminal accountability. the different present might merely be out of their coronary heart. notwithstanding, i could reject the million funds whether it weren't for Christmas for the reasons I pronounced above. however no remember if that's willed to me, i will take 2% to pay off my scientific institution expenses and different debts and supply something away. As for holiday bonuses, the business enterprise can't, by ability of regulation, take it back, and that they are an expression of thank you for production, not merely a Christmas present. i does not be responsible respecting it in the two of those 2 circumstances. As a word, no witness could ever practice the money to a political end, as we at the instant are not any element of this worldwide. Involvement in politics is a disfellowshipping offense. (John 15:18-19; a million Corinthians 4:8-14; 5:9-13)

Organised religion is always full of double standards and the Jehovah's Witness's do not have the monopoly. Catholic priests mess around with choir boys, nuns abuse children they are supposed to be educating. Church of England does not seem to demand a belief in God among their members if they are a bishop. Jews have god on their side but continue to supress the Palistinians who worship the same God....and so it goes on.
