My husband is active duty USMC and I was wondering if anyone knew what the BAH amount was in IL. He is an E3 if that helps. Obviously it doesnt have to be exact I was just curtious. We are probably moving out there within the year from NY so I was wondering what to expect.

Being Im new to the military thing Im not sure of the exact terminology. He has another 1.5 years before reinlistment however, he filled out a packet to go back to school...apparently its something where he leaves the military to do his 4 years of college (still getting paid) and when he returns he goes into officers school and becomes an officer with prior enlistment (i hope i explained that correctly.) We are probably going to champaign, IL 61820.

BAH is based on paygrade, with or without dependents and zip code of the command he will be stationed at. I cannot read your mind so without knowing the zip code of a place he may or may not get orders to I can't pull real numbers out of the air. Normally though E3 BAH even with dependents rate is not enough to live like normal human beings who eat and don't live in the hood. IL is pretty costly so plan on working full time to support the family as well or start saving a lot of money now to offset the costs. I only got $845 as an E5 there about 3 years ago. I had a studio apartment and that money covered the rent and all utilities for just me.
