Doesn't sound right to me. It's pretty hard for young Russian women (don't know how old she is, but still) to get a visitor's visa to the US, and if the Embassy (the US one, I presume, not the Russian one!) was asking for proof of ties to Russia/evidence that she'll return, it would most likely involve greater sums than $500 (which doesn't mean you should send her $500!), and things like proof of ownership of property, or a business, etc etc, in Russia. Something doesn't quite ring true about that, not to mention that it's a fairly well-known scam.

I wouldn't give her the money, if I were you. Let her get her own visa, by finding her own proof of her intent and ability to return.

the russian embassy? what country is she in now, countries don't have embassies in their homeland. Second, $500.00 is not enough for a round trip ticket, secondly what about the other expenses such as hotel, food, transportation, entertainment. now if you meant she is in the american embassy in russia, the american consul would require evidence that she can afford the trip on her own without borrowing and proof that she is going to return, such job, business or family ties that she cannot abandon. so beware.

It sounds like she is scamming you and probably many, many more people. Be very careful.

She needs $500.00 to visit the USA? Much to little amount of money. Right there shows you that something just isn't right with her request.

BEWARE. This is a classic scam line. It's becoming more common with Russians nowadays. I'm aware that not everyone is a scammer, just be ready to meet with sadness if you do send her the $$.

Well, if she doesn't have the money, she doesn't have the money. You would give her money to help her lie to the government? What is she going to do when she gets here? If you don't want to have an "adopted dependent," wish her good luck with raising the money and tell her you'll see her when she gets here.

She's scamming you big time.
