The purpose of the heated ones is too dry off the dew or ice in the morning so you can see what's going on.
If you live in a place like Phoenix, you probably don't need a heated mirror.

Propably not because there is a special wire harness that comes with each mirror that has to plug in the heated mirror wiring plug is different and not likely to fit without modification the time to ask that question is when you go to get it repaired you may be able to have that mirror installed it will however be a lot more expensive than you may think its worth. I use three coats of rainX on all the inside and out side mirrors and glass it keeps it all amazingly free from dirt and water and anything else long term in winter. If you have trouble with interior windows fogging or mirror you take a rag soaked in de icer for qindshields and wipe it on anything that fogs up regularly. its an old farmers trick for no heat trucks and works great

Heated mirrors have an extra heating element behind the glass to warm the glass to remove ice and fog. If you have a "winter package" you will most likely have heated mirrors. Check the build data sheet, otherwise known as a Moroni sheet to see if it lists heated mirrors. Most dealerships can tell you from the VIN number what your vehicle requires.

It is heated to melt ice and snow or to remove fog by a heating element behind the glass and it is can be moved to adjust to different drivers by a control near the driver

heated means that when it fogs up in the morning and you cant see out of it, there is a button u push, ususally as part of your defogger for the windshield, that will also defrost the driver side mirror outside the car.

On my car, Nissan, when you turn the defroster on the mirrors heat up - defrosting the mirror.
If you live someplace where you never get frost/snow/ice, then you don't need it.
