Why did Muslim radicals kill male gynocologists?

BAGHDAD, 13 November 2007 (IRIN) - Male gynaecologists are being targeted by Islamic extremists in Iraq as they are accused of invading the privacy of women. Women’s NGOs have raised concerns as there are few women gynaecologists in the country and their male counterparts are scared to continue working.

“Because of the extremists’ religious views, doctors are scared to continue with their work and the number of women gynaecologists is very low and cannot meet the demand,” said Mayada Zuhair, spokeswoman for the Women’ Rights Association (WRA).

“Extremists say that [male] doctors are not allowed to see the private parts of women and two male doctors were reportedly killed last week after leaving their clinics. A message was left near their bodies saying that was the end for any doctor who insists in invading the privacy of Muslim women,”

My question is "Why should we allow these barbarians to immigrate here and allow them to practice their "Religion" here?

The are a patent threat to all the rest of us and their own kind.

Why not let them ruin their own lands instead of letting them infest ours?

And, lest we forget, let's remember 9/11, the London Train Bombings and the incessant attacks against us in the recent past.

I think the time has come for all of us to ask ourselves whether or not we can afford the risk of allowing such people to live among us.

Sorry to say - but you seem to be only contributing to the problem by using phrases like this. To start off with - dehumanising another group makes it easy to vilify it and things spiral down from there. The process of dehumanising include issues like suggesting the other group might consider a child as a military target (something guarenteed to whip up the passions of the rabble) or were weak because they attack the vunerable. The main problem is that these are the acts of underinformed &/or the Fanatics who believe non-(their faith) are no better than animals - thus removing any emotinal attachment. .

It's just a job. Male OB-Gyn's don't look forward to going to work any more than anybody else. I think they must make an effort not to let things affect their personal lives, or they would probably swear off women altogether.

I mean, think about it. Many women won't go to a Gynocologist until there's a problem. . . .

Why? Sadly, belief DOES mean that there's no thought involved. If they "believe" that a man shouldn't see a woman's private parts, then they stop to think that maybe, just maybe, the woman needs a man to do that. What idiots!

For the record, I prefer male gyns, and to the first answer: my gyn is definitely straight, but very good and makes me feel as comfortable as any could.

muslim extremists or a rock, right now I think the rock is in the lead.

nobody forces these women to see a male gynocologist, they chose to go. If it is violating any tenet of thier religion, it is the woman who is voluntarily doing so.

tell me again how are they being violated?

"Extremists"

They can't see past insane dogma to get to the common sense. They would rather people suffer that risk "violating" some religious principle. This is true for any extremist group, not just followers of Islam.

I am in a minority, but I prefer a male gynecologist. They tend to handle with care.

You have already given the answer why they kill the male gynecologists.

No doubt killing a doctor is wrong. Instead female students should be encouraged to become gynecologists. So women don't have to go to male doctors. In Pakistan women don't go to male doctors and male students of medical colleges do not want to become OB-GYN. Only female students choose to become gynecologists in Pakistan. Many of female students choose other specialties also like General practice or being Paediatricians.

Well, my husband dosen't like the thought of having another man looking down there. Maybe they're a bunch of ticked off husbands. I don't know my gy is female and she isn't gay.
