Depends on what view they hold of the world and of God. I personally believe that more people becoming Evangelical conservative and embracing the righteousness-through-legal-purity, eye for an eye, big stick, our god can beat up your god, viewpoint would be a very, very bad thing.
However, if the ranks of the Catholic and mainline denominations fill with people who view God as compassionate and nurturing and very much wants us to set aside our own agendas in order to help, to love others as we want to be loved then I think the benefit would cross all sorts of lines - benefits from better parenting, stronger communities, better diplomatic policies, more personal discipline, less anxiety and stress.
At least the ecclesiastics have stopped burning the mystics at the stake. They're still tryingto excommunicate us (see Gresham Machen, et al) but maybe now that the violence is finally reigned in by a secular rule of law and we can go on living and worshipping in freedom you'll see a new sort of Christian start to become prominent, ones to whom pro-life means taking care of women cornered and marginalized, getting health care to people who need it, not waging unnecessary war, not viewing extreme poverty and extreme wealth as the way things ought to be, not condemning people who think differently, not saving our love for those who already agree with us. If so, I think the benefits are self-evident.

Becoming Christian and acting Christian are two very different things. The president is a "Christian" but he does some very un-Christian things.
I would rather see more people act Christ-like, if the becoming Christians while doing so, then more power to them, but Christians are some of the most un-Christ-like people I know.

It is written that if we (Christians) humble ourselves before God & repent of any wicked (country or personal) ways, God will heal our land.
So? Our land needs much healing right now. So? God healing our land would be very beneficial.
Also, there is eternal reward for leading people to Christ & they then being made part of the family of God. Because eventually they go to heaven with us & that makes heaven even better.
