We're remodeling our house and the project is half way done. We're very happy with our contractor but we have a tight budget.

Probably just grilling some steaks for them or taking them out for lunch would be greatly appreciated. Give them all a card that says good for one free Christmas dinner and them cook for them. You're very thoughtful and nice just to consider this. I'm a contractor and every once in a while I get a great customer like you. I've had cookies made, cake, chicken wings, made for me. I've been taken to lunch many times, given a bottle of wine, fresh vegetables, fresh honey, cloths etc.

I am an office manager at a construction company and have never seen a customer give a christmas present to one of the guys. I have seen a gift basket sent to the office with the companys name on it. But thats about it. If you really want to you can find cheap gift basket (candy fruit etc.) and have it sent but thats as far as i would go if that at all.

I think its totally fine to purchase $5.00 gift certificates to a local coffee shop (here it'd be Tim Horton's). Throw it in a card with a big THANK YOU note and give one to each of them.

Alternatively, you could give them a group gift certificate for a beer & wine store. My boyfriend and brother work together and often receive both of the above after completing jobs.

You don't have to, but it would be a token of gratitude if you did. If you do, make it something small, or bake them cupcakes.

I wouldn't. That's their job. You are paying them, right?
