actually i thought that pagans listened to nature type music.... like sounds of beach type stuff... and then the devil worshipers listened to heavy metal....

of course that was when I was younger and was into stereotyping everyone and everything

now i am older and a little wiser!!

I'm and Eclectic Pagan andmy music tastes follow that as I prefer classical music, classic rock (to include very early heavy metal, early Black Sabbath and Pink Flloyd) New Age, Opera (the Ultimate Heavy Metal bahahaha) and Big Band...could that also be classified as heavy metal considering some of the instruments are quite heavy?...okay, no I see that look.

Too many people make too many stereotypes. I'm Norwegian Irish. I do like Lefse, but I hate whiskey.

Sort of... I think there is a stereotype among Christians that think "devil worshipers" listen to metal. Some of the ignorant xians seem to associate pagans with Satan. So in a way yes, I've heard that. But luckily there are plenty of us with brains that know different. :)

I pay attention to heavy metallic daily yet no longer in basic terms that. It has replaced plenty with the aid of the years, so a number of what I call metallic, a good number of others does not agree. I merely pay attention to what i like and don't particularly care what sub-type it particularly is. i do no longer even know the version to tell the reality. I hate labels!

Only through the illogical idea that all Goths are Pagan and vice-versa, all Pagans are Goth, and all Goths listen to heavy metal, thus all Pagans are into heavy metal.
I myself am quite Eclectic, in both religion and music. I listen to everything from oldies to country to showtunes to new age.

I didn't realize that was a stereotype till you mentioned it. I wonder if maybe it's meant more for goths? Though admittedly I have no goth friends so I wouldn't know. I myself hate heavy metal music. The music interests of all of my pagan friends is so wide and varied that it's hard to pick one genre as a favorite amongst them. But I do know that none of them are that into heavy metal music.

As I recall, most of the stereotypes about Heavy Metal associate its fans with Satanism, not Paganism or Wicca.

I agree with you - the Wiccans I've known did not listen to heavy metal, while I've known a number of Christians that are really into heavy metal.

I'm a Norse Heathen, but even before that I'm a metalhead with my soul, my mind, my body and my way of life!
Been so for well over a decade and intend to stay so!
\m/ Horns up! Metal on! \m/

Edit: after reading other answers, let me add: I know quite a couple metalhead pagans offline, among them my fiancee and my best friend.

I don't have that picture in my mind of all of you folks being metal heads.

Before I got saved, I was a big-time metal head.....but not a pagan or a wiccan
