your supposed to eat 4-6 really small meals a day. like just a small salad with light dressing for one and an apple for another, not a full meal. this is said to keep your metabolism high but it is not necessary. just try to eat smaller more balanced meals with some healthy snacks (some veggies or fruit) in between, drink pleanty of water, and take some multivitamins. also, for an extra boost try taking some apple cider vinegar (you can buy it at GNC or health stores) which lowers your glycemic index letting less colories and fat into your blood stream. apple cider vinegar is not a diet pill and it is all natural (and it really works!)

Medical and fitness professionals have a plethora of opinions on the subject of eating. Try to look at the bottom line: food is a source of energy. If you're not hungry, don't eat.
Your body does a great job of telling you when it needs fuel. Filling your stomach when it's not calling for food is like watering a lawn that's already wet. You will end up feeling worse.
I know people are against fasting (or starvation as they like to call it), but there are some fine benefits to going a length of time without food. You do lose weight. No doubt about it. Also, it gives your body a chance to rid itself of bacterias. It gives your system a chance to clean itself out.
Personally, every 6 months I go for 4-5 days without food. I feel great during that time. After the second day, I feel rejuvinated, clean, and even more energetic than before. Sure people say "why are you STARVING yourself." Most ignorance comes from the unknown.
You are your own person. You walk in your own shoes. No one else is living your life for you. If you're not hungry, don't eat. Fasting can be a very safe and spiritual experience that just so happens to assist in weight loss. If only more people had the willpower to do it, this country might not be so..... I'll leave it at that.
Best of luck.

When people say eat 4-6 meals a day, they are not talking about having each meal be a big 3 course ordeal. Generally speaking though, a simple small snack will still activate the 3 hour rule on your metabolism.

When health articles suggest 4-6 meals a day, they aren't referring to full meals, but rather small snacks in between your regular meals, such as mid-morning, mid-afternoon, and sometime in the evening after your dinner. The snacks can be healthy ones, such as fruit, yogurt or low-fat granola bars, as opposed to junk food. Even your regular meals could be pared down a little bit, so you're eating a small amount of food every three hours or so. That will keep your metabolism and your energy level up and your weight down. Be sure to get plenty of exercise too.

You are supposed to eat 4-6 small meals a day to keep your metabolism going. Think of it like a boiling pot of water. If you start with a pot of water and turn on the heat, it will gradually boil. If you turn the heat off (breaks between 3 meals) and restart the heat again at a much later time, then it will take lots of time to heat back up to boiling. If you eat a bunch of little healthy meals, your metabolism will continuously "boil" and burn the fat more efficiently.

Yes you should have 4-6 meals a day but not full stomach. Every time when ever you feel eat a little but at a regular interval > this will keep you always ready to eat all the times.

eat a little bit every two hours, and a lot of water, and i promise you that you will lose wait. when you eat a little bit every two hours, the metabolism is working--however, eating heavy and 4-6 times a day is not healthy. this method is how i have lost weight after having each of my children. my youngest is two, and before birth--i weighed 135lbs. and after birth 280lbs. i believe that i am about down to 160lbs at this point with this method and some walking.

Although we eat 3 big meals a day, the human body isn't really designed for such a thing.
It is better to eat lots (6-8) small meals a day. This gives your body time to digest them properly and take the necessary nutrients from them.
In answer to your question, you shouldn't ever let yourself get hungry because if you are, your metabolism has already started to slow down as it switches to "famine" mode.

Rest when you're tired. Make love when you're horny. Eat when you're hungry.
If i was to eat 4-6 meals a day I would be 10 times the size I am now!!!!!!! Regardless of what the meals consisted of.
