The large American casino corporations have already implemented biometric tracking software that can follow a single person as they move through a large network of cameras. There would be absolutely nothing technically different when using a network of public security cameras. Some US privacy laws still restrict how this information can be used by government agencies, but give the patriot act supporters a few more years and I am sure it will be fully implemented.

They certainly are here in the UK where we live in an increasingly observed society. It is said that with Number Plate Recognition a car can be tracked from one end of the country to another. This technology was said to be responsible for the speedy arrests of the alleged perpetrators of the Glasgow Airport bombing.
