Societal evolution would favor the society with the best build, fastest reflexes, most aggressive. Warrior cult without long range weapons. Like the man said, God created all men equal, put sam colt made em equal. Truth to that in relationship to gunpowder. Gunpowder gave way to long range weapons--in this scenario--gunpowder would favor a technological society--a society where mind is more important than muscle. I suspect the history of man without gunpowder would have been slavery, intercine localized warfare--feudalism. For all the negatives invovled gunpowder clearly was responsible for the advances from the middle age into the 20th century because it favored those societys which developed technology.

Yep, there have been wars since the beginning of time. Some of the more notables were Alexander the Great, no gun powder. Rome, with Julieus Ceaser, no gun powder. Ghengis Khan, no gun powder. All the Indian wars here before we introduced gun powder.

no, no peace. however, mass collateral damage wouldn't exist. prior to gunpowder army's would have to form up on a battle field and fight in close combat. unfortunately in a modern battle environment, most civilian casualties are the result of bombs not guns.

Yes. War was impossible when people only had swords, spears, and bows and arrows. Those weapons didn't make enough noise to have a real war.
