Should an immigrant that got here illegaly and served in our military-which happens all the time-be granted the same rights as a US born citizen that never served? Which of those two people has a greater right to claim this country as their own?

Please read it carefully. I said they GOT here illegally and yes they can and do serve all the time. They get waivers and background checks like anyone else. People with visas also are able to enlist.

Even if they got to the US illegally, they are fighting for us and to protect our rights and should be given legal citizenship, and should be given the same rights as any other citizens...even the ones that don't serve in the military. They are fighting our cause and deserve to be given the GIFT of citizenship.

No sorry, they should not be given the same rights unless they go through the US Citizenship program. And just to clear up the US Citizen that never served...Many natural born citizens may not be accepted into our Military for many reasons even tho they have tried. Asthma, keeps out millions of citizens, as well as tons of other reasons. Why should they not have their rights to this country?? Sure some choose not to serve, that is their own choice as American citizens, their rights to claim this country as their own should not be changed for that EVER.

US citizen should have more rights than an illegal. If the illegal ever was to become legal and then a citizen themselves then they should have equal.
Serving in the military does not make you better than other people. Who has done more for their country and it's citizens a solider in serving Germany or a Nurse in ER?

I don't see how an illegal immigrant could have served in the Military. A convicted felon is prohibited from serving, and our Militaries are very careful about back ground checks so as not to allow enlistments of anyone who does not qualify.

Illegals cannot serve in the military and should not be in this country. Get the legal paperwork done that gives you the PRIVILEGE of being here, enlist, and go replace one of our guys on the front lines.

NO they should go through proper channels to become citizens
and be held accountable for being illegal... It may be a good idea as they catch these guys to force them to serve in the armed forces and go to war..Maybe that might change their minds of breaking out immigration laws...

Well, if they've served, then they've done it under a fraudelent identification. So, they should be held accountable for that, and entering the country illegally. Also, if they love the country enough to fight for it, then they should love it enough to file the paperwork. Citizens rights should always be sovereign when within our country. While their service would be appreciated, it would have been their own choice, and not because anyone made them.
