People have been going health crazy these days, becoming vegetarians, eating only organic food.. but are there any evidence that these people live longer than the others who eat meat, and consume non-organic food? or are these people doing this in vain?
Are organic food a gimmick or do they actually make a difference? I have been around people who consume mostly organic food and around people who don't and these people's health are not that much different from each other at all. If anyone here knows of any study done about this, can you provide me with the links because I am very curious?

there is no evidence that supports statements that vegetarians life a longer life or even a better quality of life. medical study has proven time and time again than when the omnivore and vegetarian have diets of the same caloric intake the effects on the health are negligible.

I think the bigger picture is not so much what diet you choose to eat (meat vs. vegan); it all basically lies in genetics. If your family is predisposed to certain conditions, I would be paying more attention to that and modifying my diet accordingly. If you have a great number of diabetics- avoid sugar and flour. If your family has loads of coronary artery disease- maybe a decrease in red meat is best.

I do like what Sean had to say though, eating healthy foods, correct portion sizes, and employing an exercise plan is your very best bet for longevity. Stay healthy :o)

Each piece of evidence contradicts the other, my philosophy is don't waste the time you have by trying to live longer - eat what is healthy meat and vegetables included, dont put trash in your body, get regular exercise and stop letting organic food companies scam you.

You know I was thinking about this recently. Two brothers, both in their 60's, younger one drinks two bucketfuls of water upon rising, doesn't touch "that junk", goes jogging and power naps in the afternoon. Older one eats sausage for breakfast drinks a six-pack of soda a day and works non- stop until he falls asleep in front of the TV. Both fall sick at the same rate.
Who's fooling whom?
