I know showing lots of skin on your wedding day is whats in vogue now, but I just don't want my shoulders bare. I saw this dress on a website that is a source for LDS wedding dresses. I am not LDS, but I saw this dress and just gasped. I just think it is so beautiful. Do you think this dress is too covered up for a modern wedding? I will be 24 by the wedding day, but I look like a teen.
I talked to my fiance about what type of wedding dress he would like to see me in and he said he likes strapless dresses on girls. I don't want to wear a strapless dress, but I don't want him to feel disapointed when he sees me wearing this on our wedding day because I won't be showing much skin. I am very thin, so I don't have to worry about my dress covering up batwing arm flab or anything. I have considered buying this dress and taking it to a tailor to make the sleeves slightly thinner.

Awww! I think it's really pretty and very feminine! I love it. I say go for it. The dress is about you and if you don't feel comfortbale of pretty in your dress what's the point? You'll just live to regret that you wore "whats in".
Mmaybe your fiance said "strapless" because that's EVERYWHERE and he isn't sure about other styles or what they're called. Shopping for a wedding dress is hard if you don't want the strapless. I didnt want that either. Mine's a halter style and as soon as I found it I loved it! Go with your gut girl, not Vogue magazine!

I think it is absolutely beautiful.
If you follow the trend you may look back years later and VERY much regret what you wore, (i.e. 80's puffy sleeves, puffy everything dresses) my sister wore one and felt cool at the time but could shoot herself now! Whereas, we got married around the same time and i went for a dress that i loved, it wasnt the fashion but it wasnt daggy or anything it was just nice and its still very beautiful to this day! Quite similar to yours just without the shoulder cap sleeeves.
I love your dress. Its neither your husbands choice either. Sure, it has to be mutual he has to agree with it, but its not his dress is it? Again remembering if you do what someone else thinks you should do then you could regret it jst as much!
Even if you do regret the dress you love, at least its only yourself to blame! Also, you could try a strapless dress with a little over jacket, a almost see through cropped one that you can take on and off depending on how you feel!
Do what you think is right.
Not what vogue thinks is.
Congrats and good luck =]

That dress is gorgeous and trust me if you fell gorgeous in it youre soon to be hubby will think so to. Remember men dont notice details like halter, strapless, v neck and stuff like that he will think you look gorgeous no matter what. He probablysays strapless because he wants to gove you an answer but doesnt know any other style of dress. That dress is absolutely gorgeous and the day I get married I will consider something like that I too want a dress with sleeves.

Well, I think this is a gorgeous and tasteful dress, and who says that brides have to show a lot of skin? Back in the 80's, when I bought my first wedding gown, you couldn't find anything that wasn't long-sleeved and covered with sequins, bows and feathers; for my second marriage two years ago it was completely the opposite!
I say go for it. It's your day and you should feel comfortable as well as beautiful!

I do like the dress, but to compromise, buy a strapless gown and have little cap sleeves sewn on each side. If you are thin, you can wear most any style of dress. Go to brides.com, then find designer Maggie Sottero on left side of screen. Find these dresses: Eleganza, Rebecca, Felicity and Dynasty. These dresses have that cap sleeve I mentioned. Also Allure Bridals #8313, 8362 and 8306. Good Luck,

I think the dress is gorgeous!
I don't think you need to worry about this being out of vogue, but rather the question of your fiance being pleased or not. You are trying to look good for him, so pick something that both he and you will like. I don't know how passionatly he feels about a strapless dress, but you do, so just decide whether this dress would please him or not. I hope you get to wear it! It really is lovely. Good luck to you.

That is actually a beautiful dress.
Your wedding day will be a LONG day, so you want something that you will feel comfortable in.
Congrats
(the length of the sleeves works with the dress quite well. Make sure you take a long look when the tailor pins them, to make sure it works as well.)

The dress is lovely. It is your wedding, you can wear what you want. You don't want to feel uncomfortable on your wedding day and there is nothing wrong with not looking on the "trampy" side. It is a beautiful dress, and your husband should be honored to see you walk down the aisle in it. After all, he is marrying you, not a dress.
