If you had the Ebay tool bar, it would have shown that the email was phony. You should have contacted the seller, then forwarded the email to spoof@ebay.com, then waited for a response. You didn't even go through PayPal. That should have been your first warning. Unfortunately, all you can do is report it to Ebay.

I was watching Judge Judy one day and the same thing happened to a lady and her daughter. Notify ebay about what happened and report the fraud to them along with the person who sent u the email. Keep a copy of the email they sent and get a police report as well. The police will look into the fraud scam and go into further investigation on whether this is a common practice with this person. If you sent a postal money order, you can get your money back and the police will help. If not, cut your losses but report these people who did this and ebay will cancel their account and ban them from ebay forever. Hopefully, this scam artist will learn from this lesson and get a real way of getting income instead of scamming others via fraud. Good luck okay? File that report!

Firstly, contact ebay immediately and, if possible, cancel the method of payment asap! Always check with ebay or paypal wether its a legitimate request for payment as sometimes, there is a second chance at bidding on a particular item. If you have any doubts or suspicion regarding any ebay item, ALWAYS check first by simply going into your ebay account and making sure there is a message in your ebay indicating that there is a second chance or any other information you need regarding your account. The notification will always be sent there first! There are so many scam emails out there, you have to be on your guard at all times!

How did you pay? If you paid by cash or cashier's check the only way you may get your money back is to find out who/what sent the email and complain. It's probably unlikely that your complaint will mean anything if it was a scam though. Sorry.
But if you paid by credit card somehow call your credit card company and tell them that you were scammed. I got involved in a scam once and luckily, since I paid with a card, the card company forged a complaint to them and within a week my funds were back in my account.
Like I said though, if you paid cash you really may have no chance to getting your money back. Where did you send it to? Write a letter to whichever address you sent it to. It MIGHT work.
From now on you really need to check out where the email is from and ask for some proof. If someone wants to give you a second deal on an item on ebay more than likely they will use ebays messaging service. Sorry you got conned and I hope I was of some help.

How did you pay for it? You should probably go to ebay and ask them because they'd be able to tell you if you can actually do anything.
The only chance you have is if you can somehow get in contact with the person but knowing its a scam that's probably unrealistic. Just report the person to ebay and they'll look into it. But you might be screwed and just chalk it up as a lesson learned..make sure you know what your paying for and everything is official.

Learn from the bad experience.
Ebay is a very reputable place and they like to keep it that way.
NEXT time anything - ANYTHING - out of the ordinary happens on ebay, always, always, ALWAYS contact ebay security and run the thing by them.
In fact, I would contact them about this incident, as well, so that they can investigate it and, perhaps, delete the offending person's account.
I doubt you'll get your money back... but definitely report this incident to ebay officials.

I believe you have lost your money. Ebay warns to always look out for spoof emails, basically they are covering their own butts if you get taken.
You should download the latest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer. It has a built-in safeguard that spots phishing websites - for example, when you are on the real eBay site, the location bar will show up green. If you are on a fake eBay site, it will show up red.

Did you use PayPal to pay for it? - if you did, you can file a claim through PayPal - also most 2nd change offers are real, the seller simply has another.
When I get these offers - I never respond through my email, instead log onto Ebay - if it is a legitimate offer - it will be there.

Contact Ebay and see if they can do anything for you. How did you pay for the item?

Start by sending the fake email to spoof@ebay.com.
Next, educate yourself....if it sounds too good too be true then it's probably too good to be true.
