STATING EVERYONE DOES THIS SOUNDS VERY CHILDISH IN TRYING NOT TO TAKE RESPONSIBLITY. NOT "EVERYONE" DOES THIS.

Betti: you base that observation on WHAT? your opinion? truly I am not picking on you, just debating in a forum that allows all views to be shared. No insult intended

Is that a dig, Mr. Gray?
Everyone, regardless of belief, does that.
Edit: It sounds like someone is upset about Holiday Trees. Mr. Gray, my point was that of all of the atheists I know, none of them really care what the tree is called. None of them are campaigning to have the clerks at Wal Mart say "Happy Holidays". And everyone does manipulate the facts, whether they have the integrity to admit it or not.
Edit: I base it on the fact that everyone has a unique perspective...no two people lookl at facts in the same way, nor should they. A fact can have entirely different implications to two different people...and no offense taken...;0)

What good has religion done?
I attempt not to manipulate facts. It just weakens one's case. I do my humanly best to think rationally, logically and scientifically as possible.
Although i do attempt to heat things up a bit. Still i am a fallible human like everyone else and pro to err.
I can't speak for everybody but what i have found is that scientist for the most part don't try to manipulate facts. Some have and were caught by other scientist and called to the carpet for it.
I do see the everyone does it excuse a lot. Which is a rationalization.
That is a good question with interesting answers.

That's because they're confused by the fact that this is a question/answer board and not a message board. They think its for debate, so they try to debate here. You'd think they'd get it, but unfortunately, its over their heads. If I knew of a religious message board that I really disliked, I'd post it so maybe they could go there, but I'm thinking most of them would be intimidated by people who could actually answer back and expect more than the insipid "there is not god". I don't honestly think most of them are capable of manipulating anyone, though there are a few (very few) with enough brights and bored enought to make up a few things and try to pass them off as fact.

Yes I do. What is more common is the use of logic traps that my fellow atheist themselves do not believe in, merely to undermine their opponents. It saddens me, as there are so many sound arguments to be put forward that support our view.
Some people play only to win. Frankly, in this I do not keep score.

Given the current political climate and the utter failure of the schools to introduce people to reasoned argument, I am rather convinced that non-believers and believers alike create "Weapons of Mass Distraction" in order to support their views.
Most people's notion of convincing argument derive from the reasoning of television commercials these days.

Yes, they sure do.
Almost as much as believers manipulate the facts to support their views.

I suppose some do, but there's enough negative facts (aswell as positive) for people not to bother manipulating.

In as much as they point them out to the people who insist on ignoring them.
Wheras the believers get constantly caught in lies and fabrications.
