Genesis 8:21 ~ "And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth ; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done."

Is that an admission of a mistake?
Did God reconsider his own initial judgement and change his mind?

More to the point.... given the various tsunamis, volcanoes, earthquakes, hurricanes and the like since..... causing the death of countless millions of people..... was God lying when he said he wouldn't do it again? Did he realise that his decision NOT to do it again was a mistake? Did he forget?

Marie :~ Firstly... God's claim in the bible makes no distinction of it being the whole Earth or merely part of it. The implication is that he wouldn't smite humanity or the ground upon which humans walk.

Secondly... he didn't HAVE to do it the first time, especially if it brought him such grief. He could have fixed the people to make them good rather than killing them, and all without inhibiting their free will... but he didn't. It wasn't a matter of necessity. Nothing has changed in that respect.

Thirdly... exceptions shouldn't be made for some new testament "second coming". God said he wouldn't do it again, and if he does do it again for some "second coming" then he either lied or was wrong the first time... neither of which is feasible if he is perfect.

When you cut it down to it being a matter of doing something, claiming he won't do it (or something similar) again irrespective of necessity... and then doing a lot of similar things (all qualifiable as cursing the earth) for the rest of time...
.... Basically, the christian god is a liar and a scoundrel. Whether he "made a mistake" or not doesn't quite factor into it.

Why is the international packed with evil doers like now? Why did human beings refuse to persist with God? could you blame the author for coming up human beings that turn against Him? could you blame a scientist for coming up synthetic Intelligence that overrides his administration equipment - does it make a distinction by ability of admitting blunders in easy terms or he's in easy terms a pathetic scientist? i assume some human beings use their freedom to choose on, to persist with somebody greater "interesting".

First off God flooded the entire earth and now when you have floods, earthquakes, etc. it is not the entire earth.
Second, God did not make a mistake, but He was deeply grieved that He had to do that.
Thirdly, God will not do that to the entire earth because the next time He does something that will effect the entire earth is Jesus' 2nd coming.

Um... dude the story is an allegory. A made-up tale with a point to promote. Don't pick at the metaphor, it leaves a scab.

he wasn't admiting a mistake... that was his plan.. he was to do it once.. and never again. a flood will never wipe out the entire earth again.

altho there has been floods, there has never been a flood to wipe out all living things.

if god says something will be done, it will be done

Isaiah 55:11.
11 so my word that goes forth from my mouth will prove to be. It will not return to me without results, but it will certainly do that in which I have delighted, and it will have certain success in that for which I have sent it.

LOL, YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER WHO AND WHAT DIED IN THE FIRST AND ONLY WORDWIDE FLOOD= EVETHING. GOD DID NOT MAKE A MISTAKE AND NEITHER DID HE FORGET. HE WANTED TO BEGIN THINGS ALL OVER AGAIN WITH A PROPER HUMAN FAMILY. HE DID NOT WANT TO FLOOD THE EARTH AGAIN, SEE THE WAY HE MADE A RAINBOW AS A SIGN THE FLOOD WOULD NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. IT'S IN THE BIBLE.

I thought God doesn't make mistakes because he's perfect?

34 Therefore, indeed, I send you prophets, wise men, and scribes: some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city, 35 that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. 36 Assuredly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation.
Jesus Laments over Jerusalem
Matthew 23
37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! 38 See! Your house is left to you desolate; 39 for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!’”

Matthew 24
2 And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”
3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”
4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all[a]these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences,[b] and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.
The Great Tribulation

15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’[c] spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. 18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.
23 “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. 24 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you beforehand.
26 “Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it. 27 For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 28 For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together.

In the book of Jeremiah, it speaks that because man in the heart completely revoked God, that his anger shall be reflected upon the masses for what they have done. Even moreso, Exekiel speaks that after the collapse of the two towers, that he shall reflect his thoughts (judgements) on all of those who participated in the sin of a nation before his wrath moves to them.

Understand, when God threw Adam out, it was not for his imperfection, but for his lack of repentance. Why do you think he asked him. When God is not allowed by man to enter man, and we butcher his word, every sign and wonder in the word shall be revealed until Satan gains dominion over this earth.

There is no mistake, every man on this earth has had an opportunity in one way or another to acknowledge and serve him, but we continue in our permiscuility. Remember, repent for you before you do it with someone else, because the word speaks that his promises can be rebuked with continous sin.
