Braces fixes different types of malocclusion like crowding , spacing , protrucions, deep bite or overbite. Having overbite can be treated by repositioning the teeth, expanding the arch where arch is lacking in size, or if the overbite is due to cer tain habit like thumb susucking causing the teeth arch to narrow and protrude thus causing the overbite, braces are use to reposition teeth while correcting the arch shape too.

I had braces for a severe overbite when I was younger. The rubber bands help pull them into place. I also had to get two teeth removed in order to make space for them to straighten.
