And on a different note. Vince!!! The best part about dentistry is that it is indeed a creative outlet. My son once asked me if I ever did any sculpture and I answered, "It's what I DO; only in miniature."
I got my start in photography and music from my father, who also did some nice sculptures in wood: http://www.flickr.com/photos/samfeinstein/1206242648/

Well, I can think of two pretty darn good photographers who are also dentists right off the top of my head.
The first is our own Dr. Sam.
The second is a dentist from my own town of Frankfort, Kentucky. He has spent a good many years taking photographs of the town, and has published a good many books of photographs. I can honestly say that he's been a big inspiration for my style, since he and I both share the same love for landscape of central Kentucky.
See this dentist's work at http://www.geneburch.com/ .

Just what would prevent a dentist from taking pictures?

I'm afraid not.
The training a dentist receives has the, unfortunate, effect of "switching" off the person's creative portion of the brain. Creativity, in a dentist, is a VERY bad thing. You don't want someone being creative in your mouth.
It is sad, because so many, potentially creative souls, took bad career path and ended up going to medical school, instead of art school, over the objections of heartbroken parents.
"Deprogramming" institutions have been set up to help reverse the damage in individuals who have realized their error, but, for many, this help is YEARS too late.

Yes, from the neck up. There are some cases that require this.

He/she certainly can - and they will take pretty good pictures if they get their teeth into the subject...

I don't think this was meant to be a question. It seems more like a comment…
