If you mean 'play-fighting', yes.

HOWEVER... any type of physical play-fighting can ONLY be done AFTER it has been firmly established who is the alpha-dog in the relationship (and never before the age of one). We may consider such activity a simple game, but to a dog, it is one of many tests of who will be the alpha.

Even after years of intense obedience, agility, and search training with my dog, I am always the one to call the shots... especially when it comes to when the game is over. My dog has a very soft mouth and will not bite down on my skin. However, accidents happen and when they do, I immediately shut the play down and say "Ouch!" loudly. That elicits an immediately apology in the form of ears down, jumping up on me and lots of licking. I then let him know that I'm OK, and we then go on to a different activity.

If you are referring to warding off an attack, the answer is also 'yes' (and I have the scars to prove it). After quite a few years of doing rescue work that included dogs with behavioral problems, I learned quite a bit.... most importantly, "It's far better to prevent a fight than to try and win one." Therefore, I am very careful around a new dog in respect to food, petting him/her on the head, grooming, and anything else that might trigger an aggressive response. (Learning body language is a must.)

If you are having problems with your dog, you need to IMMEDIATELY get help. It is most dangerous (not to mention opening yourself up for a lawsuit and/or criminal charges) to have a dog that will show unprovoked aggression towards a human. Contact your vet or humane society for names of trainers in your area.

Hope this helps!

Yes. After a day at the pooch groom, my 150lb, Great white Pyrenees, Bear, flat refused to get out of the car (he takes up all of the back seat and then some) He loves car rides. My mother and I tried for 2hrs to move him but he wouldn't budge. We finally got him out by opening both back doors, mom pushed I pulled.

that would teach my dog to be mean and hate --- why would I do that?

Anyone who fights their dog needs to be chewed up and spit out.
