A lawyer will choose a defense that suits the crime.
This sounds as if you are looking for a justifiable reason to murder a police officer. This in itself is quite revolting, as well as some of the answers you are getting.
We all know that we are not above the law, and the preponderance of us have an aversion to anyone adulterating the badge more than you may think.
There was a case of Larry Davis in the 1980's, he was charged with attempted murder of police officers, which he beat. This was a slippery slope however defended by William Kunstler and Lynne Stewart he beat that rap but was convicted on an abundant of other charges including murder (a real pillar to society).
Mind you that was an attempted murder charge - I myself had an attempted murder charge against a perp that tried to run me over in a stolen car - no self-defense there - he is still being traded for cigarettes in prison 17-years later.
If you attempt to "Obstruct Governmental Administration" by intervening on what you think is an officer breaking the law be prepared to receive an AIC "Acting in Concert" with the offender. A taser is NON-LETHAL force - ~crush their wind pipe~ again what previous knowledge do you have concerning the incident so forth and so on?
Self-defense is just that - it's a defense, so is insanity. If you see what you think is reprehensible police action call 911 and/or follow the grievance system procedures within your community. If you want to be an activist against the police, that is your prerogative and right as a U.S. citizen.
But to look for a legal concurrent to eradicate a person that is there to shield the people; leans towards anarchy. A crime against a police officer is a crime against society itself. If one kills a cop, where does one draw the line?

the problem is that legally trying to get a cop charged with murder or other crimes if they commit them is some cops today can be manipulative. They have knowledge of the law and its loopholes. you could claim self defense if you shoot one but then that most likely would not hold up in court and people would say and claim that you acted on your own or that you were doing something to put you in that position.
with the stuff that happened with the one cop in new york with the chokehold incident and the one white cop in St Loius Missouri (the Ferguson thing) you must realize that these days some cops tend to manipulate the law and find ways around it (some of them abuse their power to get themselves out of trouble).
point being that whether the cop is in the wrong or not you most likely will not have much luck trying to prove your case in the end

Law enforcement officers are permitted to use means necessary to defend both themselves from danger when they have probable cause to do so. Claiming you see a cop break the law and then taking physical action is not permissible but may be brought through evidence to their superior or even court. You hurt only yourself by attacking a cop since you, yourself do not know the extent to which the cop has probable cause to believe that otherwise the assailant is dangerous.
If a cop is trying to kill you? You must expand on that. If you mean if he is holding a gun at you because you are suspected of something, go quietly don't be ludicrious. They are required to identify themselves as officers of the law and harming a cop will give you a very very harsh sentence. If a cop has gone stark raving mad and is shooting at you for absolutely no reason one could ARGUE self defense. Though be forwarned just because you can argue self defense does not mean a jury will believe it. But if it is later identified you were a suspect, they attempted to bring you in, they identified themselves you my friend, are screwed, and rightfully so.
Tread lightly--- it sounds more to me like you're looking for ways to get out of jail time for harming/killing a cop.

Why is he trying to taze you? If he has a legal reason, you can't do anything. If he is tazing you illegally, you may be able to defend yourself, but not with deadly force, since tazers are well-known as non-lethal weapons. In most cases, self-defense must be proportionate to the threat. The part about your property can't be answered without answering all the questions above. Is he there legally, why, what is your fear/what are you defending yourself from?

No you cannot kill a cop if they are trying to kill you. If a cop was trying to kill you it's because you are a direct threat on their life.
if you catch a cop breaking the law by using excessive force then you need to report it to their supervisor.
You cannot tase them or mace them. Thats assault on a police officer.
Do not try to take the law in your own hands. These things are investigated by I/A. If the cop was in the wrong, the appropriate punishment will be given.

Police are not above the law, although the reality is that judges are reluctant to convict officers based solely on eye-witness testamony. So if this does ever happen you are better off recording it, VERBALLY confronting the officers, and (as ironic as this may sound) calling the police yourself. No all officers are bad, and in the police world the quickest way of being promoted is by arresting a dirty cop.

Thats gonna be tough to prove but if you simply bash them on the head with a shoe..i'm sure that'll do the trick then unless ofcourse he's a super cop and turns to tase you too. Camcorders seem to be working pretty well recording some cops getting out of line so far.

I would, but then I would have problems with the boys in blue forever. Also, I wouldnt assume that a cop always has the best judgement, very few of the cops on my golf league are straight shooters.

There is no self defense if you kill a cop. This is a bad frame of mind buddy. How can you live with yourself.
I would rather get the evidence against the dirty cop and have him prosecuted by a prosecutor who go after dirty cops.

In Missouri, you are legally allowed to defend yourself against excessive force.
However, since you have made it clear that you really have no concept of what that means, you will get both hurt and arrested in your attempt.
I hope there is video.
