There are three types of Jewish Jokes:

1) genuinely funny jokes told by NON jews. In America especially, they really 'get' what's an affectionate joke and what isn't

2) Jewish humour; Jewish jokes and anecdotes told usually by Jewish people. There are books on this and they are most enjoyable. Genuine Jewish humour is dry, wry, and sometimes with a real punch!

3) so-called 'jokes' which are in fact insults, such as the one a previous answerer tells here about the air being free. This is not funny, because it relies on two age old, nasty stereotypes, about the way we look, and our attitude towards money. Neither stereotype is funny. The person telling it may kid himself that it's OK, but it isn't. And he can say he 'loves Jews' as much as he likes: he doesn't.

I didn't think Jews are joked about any more than any other subject. I do think the very grey area of what is offensive in any joke is often a problem, being racist, fatist etc. I suppose the answer lies within the individual. Jokes involving creed and or colour etc can still be funny and unoffensive if the joke is pitched correctly My pet hate is swearing.

You will find that a large percentage of the comedians in the US are actually Jewish. The jewish jokes you hear on these shows are actually written by jews who have a great sense of humor and aren't afraid to poke fun at themselves.

It is actually a sign of maturity and self awareness.

Its when people can't take a joke and are humorless that you need to start worrying about them.

Those jokes are making fun of anti-Semites. The Roman and Reform Churches have tormented the Jews for ages. They call them "Christ killers" which shows their lack of biblical understanding.

Well, there are actual JOKES and then there are INSULTS.

Just because it's said with a smile, doesn't make an insult a joke.

True humor employs wit, not cheap shots.

Did you intentionally use the noun Jew instead of the adjective Jewish?

Most Jews have a great sense of humor.
