It doesn't matter if you refer to it as afterlife or afterdeath,neither exist anyway

It's probably because death is the end of our earthly life so anything beyond that is after that life. The same thing applies to the time that comes after the light has gone.

The reason is pretty simple. Christians have a life after death. They are saved. This is the salvation and resurrection message.

afterlife-because it's where you go after your life is over here on earth.
and afterdark-is after the dark falls

The whole point is that it is what happens after you have had your life.
Hence after life. of course meaning death. But put in a nice way..!!
